Review of Solo Show at Three Graces

"Confluence #1"- 36" x 36" - Encaustic, oil, nails, aluminum, fabric, bark and wire on braced birch.
"You can tell it took a lot of guts to go big with these unreliable, slightly unforgiving media. She pulls it off brilliantly, reaping huge payoff in pieces like "Confluence #1," -Ann Bryant, Portsmouth Herald

I was delighted to find out that my current show at Three Graces Gallery received a lovely review in The Portsmouth Herald today.

Here is a little of what writer Ann Bryant had to say:

"Robin Luciano Beaty's encaustics have a gravitational pull. Layers of warm wax, bark, glass, fabric, found objects, nails, wire, and thread are layered, gouged, and built over again to produce landscapes with a very special depth to them.

The sculptural qualities of these pieces are what makes them so great, and Beaty's open-minded approach to landscapes is what makes these pieces so refreshing and memorable. They're less like images and more like three dimensional memories, complete with the haze of emotion and romanticism..." -Ann Bryant

You can read the article in it's entirety here!

Thanks Ann!

Kim Ferreira, owner and curator of this lovely little gallery in the gorgeous port town of Portsmouth NH, has put together a beautiful show, displaying four completely unique and original encaustic styles. I think its an awesome example of how versatile the medium of encaustic really is and I'm proud to be a part of this group show.

If you are in the Portsmouth area, please drop in a check it out!
This show runs until June 1st.

BUT...if you absolutely can't make to NH in the next few weeks (or want a little sneak peak) all of the work exhibited in this show is now available to purchase online! HERE.

Just remember...I can not encourage enough that these extremely textural and luminous pieces should be seen in person.

"Teeny Tiny" Art making...

my encaustic painting area. Can you tell I need more space?!

some of my new pieces for the "Teeny Tiny Art Show #4" at Three Graces Gallery

Amongst all of the crazy fireplace building, contractor chaos and constant snow shoveling lately, I've been super busy painting up a storm! (hmmm...have I neglected to mention that??) I get so caught up with the progress ON my future studio, that sometimes I forget to report on the progress IN my current studio: the truly important stuff....ART!

So, in between working on commission pieces and my ever growing "Above and Beyond" series, I've been creating a special little selection of paintings for the upcoming "Teeny Tiny Art Show 4" at Three Graces Gallery in Portsmouth NH.
I had so much fun with this series... incorporating little figurative elements, vintage materials, found objects and poetry. These intimate pieces are somewhat reminiscent of my abstracted landscapes but tell a story all their own. Those of you who know my work, probably realize by now I have a tendency to go on these whimsical (and sometimes dramatic) little sprees. I truly love creating them and I hope you can come to check them out next week in Portsmouth, along with over 30 of my small scale encaustic abstract pieces.
This is one of my favorite shows of the year simply because it is so much fun! Not only do you get to see a plethora of great "tiny" art by many extremely talented artists...but LOTS of it and as an extra added bonus, its super affordable! Its virtually impossible to leave without a new piece of art for that perfect little spot in your home. Hope to see you there!

The More the Merrier!

I just received this image of my "Above and Beyond" series from Kim, the owner of Three Graces Gallery. After the arrival of my 10 new paintings last Friday, she decided, instead of having a separate grid of 9 along with my existing display of 20, she'd "marry" them to make up this awesome and dynamic display of 30. If you are in the Portsmouth area, you have to go by and check it out. This is the way these paintings are meant to be seen. The more the merrier!
Here's an except from the Three Graces Gallery Blog www.threegracesgallery.blogspot.com

"
Robin Beaty's work is gorgeous!! each individual painting is sophisticated to stand on its own, but it is the combination of these works that commands attention. In fact that's what makes them so fun to collect, you can start out with one, then add two to display in a row of 3, then perhaps a grid of 9, and then one can always dream of a big beautiful grouping of 20!
It's been brought to my attention that I always use the same words to describe deserts when speaking of Robin's work, well, I confess and maintain that they are delicious..."-Kim Ferriera
